Item Routing
Routing is a controlled method for moving an item from one location to another. By setting up predetermined routes users will only be able to move the items to the destinations you have created. Applications that can use routing are, Document Manager, Data Manager & Image Manager.
To set up a route you must have ADMIN access rights to the application.
To execute a route a user must have ROUTING access rights to the application.
Steps to create a route.
Click on the pencil icon for the application you want to create a route from.
Click on the Routing Tab
This will display all the incoming and outgoing routes to this folder. Click Add New.
The Route Details Window will ask for the name of the outgoing route. This can be Anything you choose but should give the user some idea of where the item is being routed to. Also it asks you to choose the actual location within the content browser. Click browse to choose the route location.
You have now created an outgoing route from this folder.
After the route is created, go back to the application items.
To Route an item, place a check box next to it and click the route button.
Then choose the routes you want to send the item. You can have multiple routes incoming and outgoing in a folder.
After clicking the routing button the item will be moved into the new destination.
You will also be able to see the item history showing that the item was routed.
