Noodle Mobile is available for the iPhone and
iPod Touch and is a great way to keep in touch with Noodle users
whilst on the move. You can update your status, check the status
of other users as well as email and call Users - you can even create
a Noodle easily with your device ! This page gives an overview of
the application and how to use it:
Create a Noodle
Once the Noodle Mobile application has been
downloaded to your iPhone or iPod Touch, a trial Noodle can be
created.
Connecting to a Pre-Existing Noodle
If your organization already has a pre-existing Noodle, connecting
to it using Noodle Mobile is very simple. Click on the Settings
tab and fill in the following fields:
- Noodle URL - The URL can be in 3 different formats:
- A domain, for example www.myintranet.com,
mycompany.intra.net.
- If Noodle has been installed on port 80 of the server, only
the IP address will be required. Take note that if the internal
IP address is used here then Noodle will only be available
from the internal network. If the external IP address is used,
Noodle will available from outside the network.
- If Noodle has been installed on a port other than 80, the
port as well as the IP address will need to be specified,
for example 192.168.0.101:8002 (internal),
or 65.139.111.18:8080 (external).
"http://" is not necessary
- Username - Your Noodle Username.
- Password - Your Noodle Password.
Once all information has been entered, Noodle will attempt to
connect with the server. During this time, the Status will be
shown as PENDING.
If the authentication is successful, this will changed to AUTHENTICATED
and all features of the application will now be available.
If authentication fails you will the status change to EXPIRED
This means that either the Username or Password is incorrect.
Check your settings and ensure both are entered correctly.
Menu Options
At the bottom of the Noodle Mobile interface
there are 4 menu options to allow for the configuration and use
of Noodle:
Status
Status List
From this interface, a feed of user statuses can be viewed as
well as your own status updated. The feed is shown with the user's
image on the left side, their name, and then their status:

To update the Status List, use the
button.
Updating your Status
To create a status update, simply use the
button. Enter the text using the keyboard and select Post.
People
User List
The People section allows users to browse through the list of
users that currently belong to the Noodle they are currently connected
to:

Selecting a User from this list will display a small version of their Profile.
User Profile
The User Profile is accessible by selecting a user from the People
Section and displays their name, avatar, current
status, phone number and email address. iPhone users can simply
select the phone number and the iPhone will call that number.
Both iPod Touch and iPhone users can click on the Email field
to email the selected user.

In the top-right corner of the Profile there is an edit button
that allows Users to alter their own profile information and also
for administrators to alter their own and other User's information.
Press this button to open up the Edit menu:

The
Admin switch signifies whether or not this
User is an administrator capable of altering information on other
User's Profiles.
Inviting a User to your Noodle
Once your Noodle is set up, or if you have a pre-existing Noodle,
you can begin inviting users from your iPhone/iPod Touch.
Click on the People section and then the
button. Enter an email address in the textbox provided, then click
the invite button. A User will be created for the invitee and
an email sent to them with a link to Noodle, their Username
and Password.
Settings
The Settings area allows Noodle Mobile to create
a New Noodle, connect
to an existing Noodle, alter the currently logged
in User and check the connection status.
