Email provides Noodle users with a convenient
mail client that allows easy management of one or more email accounts
from within the Noodle environment.
Setting up and Managing Accounts
The first time an Email application is selected Noodle will prompt
the user to set up an email account that will be synchronized
with this application. Multiple email accounts may be linked to
one Email application and can set one up at any time by going
into Administration -> Settings
-> Accounts.
Adding an Email Account
Noodle comes with an easy-to-follow wizard that will allow any
user to easily set up an email account to use with Noodle. The
following information is required:
1. Enter Display Name - This is the name that will be displayed
in the 'From' field when emails are sent.
2. Enter Email Address - This is the Email Address that will
be used for sending and receiving emails.
3. Mail Server Settings - URL's for the incoming and outgoing
servers must go here. Server type and port number may also be
specified, and whether Secure Password Authentication is to be
used.
4. Username and Password - Enter the Username and password for
the Email account here.
5. Enter Account Name - This is the name that will be displayed
in the list of email accounts.
Editing Account Details
After an account has been created, a user may wish to alter some
of the options at a later date. The display name, account, server
type, incoming server, port and SPA option may all by edited.
To alter any of these settings go to Administration
-> Settings -> Accounts
and enter the new details in the spaces provided. Click on another
tab or application to save any changes that have been made.
Email Administration
Email also allows the user to organize their Email application
using folders and filters to store emails and filter spam or correspondence
from specific addresses.
Folders
To create folders within an Email application select Administration
-> Settings -> Folders.
A list of folders currently existing in the current Email will
be displayed. The 4 mandatory folders are Drafts,
Inbox, Outbox and Sent.
These folders may not be removed under any circumstances.
To add a new folder click the 'Add New Folders'
button and select a name and a location. The default location
is '/' which is the root folder. A folder may
be added to any other folder and there is no limit to the amount
of sub-folders a folder may hold.
Filters
Noodle's Filters feature allows users to automatically redirect
emails based on email information:
1. Filter Name - Choose a descriptive name for the filter.
2. Filter On - Choose the field on which the filter will be performed,
the type of check and enter the text to be used in the text box
provided.
3. Destination - Choose the destination folder to which the emails
will be sent or if they are to be deleted.
Select 'OK' to save the filter.
Receiving Emails
Noodle downloads emails from an email server with just a single
click! Simply click the 'Get Mail' button and
Noodle will download emails, run them through any available filters,
and store them in the appropriate folder.
Sending an Email
Sending Emails is also very easy and convenient from the Noodle
interface - simply select 'Compose Mail' to open
the IntraEditor window and can start entering information:
1. Account - If a user has synchronized Noodle with multiple
email accounts, they may choose here from which account they would
like the email sent.
2. To, Carbon Copy (cc) and Blind Carbon
Copy (BCC) - Here, the user can enter addresses for email
recipients. If the user wishes to choose names from an address
book, simply click the 'To' button to show the
'Select Names' form. Here, the user can browse
through any Noodle Address Book and even create a contact on the
fly.
3. Subject - Enter the subject of the email here.
4. Body - The text of the email.
Once all information has been entered, click Send
to send the email:

Other Email Options
As with other Applications, Email has some basic functions to
allow users to manager their Email most effectively. From the
main Email view a user may delete entries or cut, copy and paste
emails between Email instances. Simply select the email or emails
to be modified by checking the checkbox adjacent to it and using
the buttons located above the list.
Access Rights Explanations
Below is an explanation of how Access Rights affect what the User
is able to do:
- Read - Read Access allows the User to view the list of Folders and to read individual Emails.
- Post - Post allows the User to view Folders and Emails, as well as create new emails and reply to existing Emails.
- Modify - Modify access allows the User all Post rights, as well as the ability to create Filters and Folders.
- Admin - Admin Access allows the User to access the Administration section of the particular instance of the Email module.
- Route - Routing is not applicable for the Email module.
