PostGreSQL
PostGreSQL back-up is incredibly simple and requires no external tools or applications to perform. Navigate to the folder in which IntraNet has been installed - this is usually C:/Program Files/IntraNet, unless a different directory was specified during installation. Inside here is a directory called 'postgresql'; this directory contains all the information that is in the IntraNet. Simply copy this entire folder to a separate location, preferably on a different device, and any IntraNet content is now safe should a disaster happen to the main database.
Restoring a database is the same procedure in reverse. If you are restoring up to an existing IntraNet; begin by shutting down the Application Server. If you are unsure how to do this click here.
Now, simply navigate to the installation folder and copy the 'postgresql' directory containing the IntraNet data into the IntraNet directory. The Enhydra application must then be restarted in order for the IntraNet to be accessible. To do this, simply go to Start -> Administrative Tools, and select Services. Navigate to the service entitled intraNET, select it, and begin the service by selecting Start from the right-click menu, or from the Action menu. Alternatively, the user may simply restart the machine.
Microsoft MSSQL 2000 and 2005
MSSQL comes with a manager application that allows users to back-up and restore databases with relative ease. There are more than one type of database backup and this should be considered when deciding to back-up data.
