Active Directory synchronization
is quick and easy with Noodle. This page is designed to provide
information to set up Noodle to synchronize with an Active Directory
server, specify connection parameters such as the Fully Qualified
Domain Name (FQDN) and the Group of Users that will be used with
Noodle.
Setting up Active Directory
Setting up Active Directory is a simple procedure. The administrator
should navigate to the System Settings area of Noodle and subsequently
the Active Directory tab.
The following options will need to be configured when setting
up Active Directory:
Enabled - This must be set to Yes for Noodle
to recognize Active Directory.
Use SSL (optional) - This option can be enabled
to tell Noodle to use Secure Socket Layer encryption technology.
This will encrypt user information sent between Noodle and the
Active Directory. This setting is not required if Noodle and Active
Directory reside on the same server.
Server Name - This will be the IP address of
the Active Directory server. If Noodle and Active Directory reside
on the same server, then localhost may be used in this field.
Administrative Username - This field will contain
the username for the Active Directory server. It MUST be in the
format Username@FQDN. This User must be a member
of the group that will be usd for Noodle and a member of the Account
Operators group.
Group Name - Administrators can choose a specific
group from which to import users to Noodle. To specify a Group,
enter the name in this field. If this field is left blank, all
Active Directory users from the specified domain will be imported.
Domain - This field should contain the Fully
Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the Active Directory server. This
can be found by opening the Active Directory Users and Groups
tool as shown:

The image below displays a Noodle that has been synchronized
to the Active Directory server shown above:

Once this the Active Directory information has been placed into
Noodle, users will be imported from Active Directory to Noodle.
Information and Troubleshooting
Information
When an LDAP update occurs, users will be addes, deleted or updated
depending on their status:
- Users Deleted - 5 minutes or less
- Users Added - 1 minute or less
- Users Updated - 1 minutes or less
Troubleshooting
This section will contain information regarding possible issues
that can arise with Active Directory under certain conditions.
'User must change password at next logon' problem - There are
a number of account options within the User properties within
Acive Directory - one of these is 'User must change password at
next logon'. This setting is known to cause issues with Noodle.
If an Active Directory Noodle user is having difficulties logging
in, check that this checkbox is not checked.
Also, Noodle will not import Active Directory users after the
user limit has been reached. In order to import new users, a new
license with a larger amount of users is required.
